I don't know how many of you people have heard of the Pooh's Adventures series on YouTube, but I figured I ought to throw my two cents in while it's fresh on my mind. I'm not talking about the cartoon series that ran on Disney Channel (The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh), but this does involve it. What Pooh's Adventures is, typically, is the Pooh cast going on an adventure through another movie, like the Great Mouse Detective, An American Tail, the Pokemon movies, etc. I used to think this concept was a neat little idea, but now that I've been dabbling in making videos myself, I find it less than appealing to me these days. You could call it a 'crossover' series, since it has Pooh and friends 'interacting' with the surroundings, providing assistance to the characters and dialogue, but from a more critical viewpoint, I just can't find myself liking it.

The 'dialogue' from Pooh and friends, or from characters when it's not in the original script, involves muted clips with subtitles. While this might work for a text-based story, like a fan fic, it's just unappealing to look at in a video, especially when some of the same clips are recycled when they just don't fit.

The plots are basically the same, usually with Pooh and the gang reenacting their participation in the movie like a play, from the episode "Paw and Order", specifically, and you are going to see a LOT of the same clips and jokes over and over within each.

Then there's the cast. Oh, Lord, the cast. It wasn't so bad at first, just a couple guest stars, like Mewtwo or Ash (a cool concept at the time), but now it's just getting bonkers. Let's look at this from a statistical perspective. The typical Pooh gang in these movies is Pooh, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, and Eeyore, making 5, not counting the appearances of Christopher Robin, Gopher, or Owl during certain reused scenes or jokes. Then, let's say 'today's guest stars' involve Ash, Misty, Brock, and Pikachu. That's 9. Now, for added kicks, let's say they're ALSO accompanied by Jiminy Cricket and the four vultures from the Jungle Book.

...Yeah, you get where I'm coming from, and that's not counting the rogue's gallery. You could have the movie's main characters, the Pooh gang, and the guest stars facing Cruella deVil, Captain Hook, Team Rocket, and the Grand Duke of Owls all in the same project. It's maddening!

Then, there's the spinoffs...Ash's Adventures, Littlefoot's Adventures, Barney's Adventures, the list could go on...

Look, I'm not here to rant and rave, though I fear that's what I made it sound like. I'm sure the makers of these have the best intentions, more power to them. All I'm saying is, after taking off my rose-colored glasses, it's just not for me anymore.

Thank you.

PS: You wanna know what's even scarier? There's an entire Wiki dedicated to it.
Let that sink in.
